Another trophy for Team APN. Youp Orsel is a Jacques Léglise Trophy champion. Representing the Continent of Europe at The Island Golf Club in Ireland, Orsel was part of the side that beat Great Britain & Ireland 14½–10½ to lift the trophy.
The Jacques Léglise Trophy is the premier team event for boys' amateur golf in Europe — the junior counterpart to the Walker Cup and the Ryder Cup, pitting the best young players from the Continent against Great Britain & Ireland in foursomes and singles match play.
Orsel delivered every time he was sent out. He won his foursomes match alongside Tao Pemerika, then backed it up in the singles with a commanding 4&2 win over Cole Self — two full points for the Continent in a week decided by the margins.
Links match play is as demanding as golf gets: wind, long walks over the dunes and pressure on every hole. Orsel made APN's three-phase system part of his routine at The Island — Pre-Game from warm-up to hole 5, Mid-Game from hole 6 to 12 and End-Game from hole 13 to 18 — so his hydration and fueling were as consistent on the first tee as on the last.
